Tomorrow President Obama will hold a Violence Against Women Act singing ceremony with women’s organizations, law enforcement officials, tribal leaders, survivors, advocates and members of Congress. The bill has not yet been signed in to law, but as we have been documenting, there is already much effort to overturn the tribal provisions.
Yesterday in D.C. an attorney from the United States Attorney General office confirmed that they are preparing to defend the tribal provisions in VAWA in federal court.
