October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and we could not be more honored that our newest supporter/ally is Cody Blackbird. Cody is a beautiful musician and in 2011, became the youngest recipient ever to win Flutist of the Year at the Native American Music Awards. He also speaks publicly about drugs, alcohol, and suicide prevention. 

If you are interested in participating in Save Wiyabi Project’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month campaign, please write down what ending violence against Native American women means to you, take a photo of yourself, and send it to Save.Wiyabi.Project@gmail.com. We would love to include you and your message!

In the spirit of writing to our Congresspersons, we took action. We encourage you to do the same. Please tell your Representative to re-authorize the Violence Against Women Act and write them today. If you take your mouse and put it over the places you will see the field pop up, and can use our letter as template.

There are just four weeks left in the work period before Congress adjourns for the August break. It is once again time to flood your Representatives with emails, Tweets, and phone calls. It is imperative that they vote “NO” on H.R. 4970, and “YES” on S. 1925. The time is now.

Fort Lewis lacrosse player and Save Wiyabi Project supporter Tim Topper, has taken advocacy to a whole new level. He stated that he, “Now has another reason to play.” That sound you hear is my heart swooning. 

I present to you this year’s new SlutWalk San Francisco poster! It makes me incredibly happy that our ever loving and ever fabulous designer (Vince Marchbanks) put a photo of the Native group that attended our walk last year (which includes my dad). Made me a little teary-eyed.
